Home/Local SEO & Google Business Profile
Show up on the map, with the right information on it.
The least glamorous work I do and reliably the highest returning. Most local businesses are losing customers to details they have never checked.
Start here
Someone three miles away is searching for exactly what you sell, right now.
They will type something like "gym near me" or "best facial near me", look at the three businesses on the map, read a few reviews and pick one. The whole decision takes under two minutes and you are either in it or you are not.
What decides it is not mysterious. It is whether your information is accurate and complete, whether your categories are right, whether you have recent reviews, and whether your profile shows signs of life. All of those are things you control and most local businesses control none of them.
When I take on a new client this is nearly always where I start, because it is the fastest gap to close and everything else works better once it is closed.
What I usually find
The problems are boring, which is exactly why they are still there.
Wrong information, everywhere
Old hours, a disconnected number, an address formatted five different ways across five directories. Every inconsistency chips away at how confident search engines are about you.
A profile with nothing in it
No services listed, three photos from 2021, no posts, no questions answered. Next to a competitor with a full profile you look closed.
Reviews left to chance
Reviews arrive when someone is unusually delighted or unusually annoyed. Without a routine that asks, the average business collects a slow trickle weighted toward complaints.
A single location gym with a loyal handful of members, a Google listing full of wrong information, and a social account that posted when someone remembered. We fixed the foundation, then built on it. The first measurable lift came inside three months.
What I do
The unglamorous checklist that moves the needle.
- Google Business Profile audit and rebuild: categories, services, attributes, description, hours
- Photography added and refreshed on a schedule so the profile looks alive
- Google Posts published regularly for offers, events and news
- Questions and answers seeded and monitored so the answers are yours, not a stranger's
- NAP consistency corrected across the directories that feed the major search engines
- Review generation built into the customer journey, plus responses to every review
- On site local signals: page titles, location content, embedded map, structured data
- Service and location pages so you can rank for more than your own business name
- Tracking so you can see calls, direction requests and website clicks month over month
A note on expectations
Nobody can promise you the top of the map.
Anyone who guarantees a ranking is either misinformed or hoping you are. What I can promise is that your information will be right, your profile will be complete and active, your reviews will accumulate instead of trickling, and you will be able to see what that produced.
That is what moved the needle for the gym, and it is what I would start with for you.
Questions
Before you get in touch.
Is local SEO really worth paying for?
For a business that depends on people within driving distance, it is usually the highest returning thing you can do. When someone searches for a service near them they are close to buying, and the businesses that appear are decided largely by signals you control: accurate information, categories, reviews and activity.
How long does local SEO take to work?
Listing corrections can show up within weeks. Ranking improvements and review accumulation take months, and on my longest running engagement the first clearly measurable lift came at about three months.
What is NAP consistency?
Name, address and phone number. Search engines cross reference your details across dozens of directories, and when versions disagree it undermines confidence in all of them. Making every listing identical is unglamorous, tedious and one of the most reliable wins available.
Can I just do this myself?
Some of it, yes, and I will happily tell you which parts on the call. The reason most owners do not is that it is detailed, repetitive work that never feels urgent, so it sits undone for years while quietly costing money.
